Works but takes some getting used to

Wanted to try black fabric. I've used acrylic and it takes a while to get used to because some colors don't stand out unless you use a lot of paint. In general I like it. It's only been 3 months since I started using the sheet, but I'll probably test more writing/drawing supplies to see how I can make my art show up with a black background.

Count your pages! Printing paper

I bought three pieces, one was missing 2 pages. That's a lot for the price. I also recently bought a few pieces of plain watercolor paper of the same brand and size/style from a local craft store and some of them were missing pages as well. Quality control for Strathmore is truly non-existent. But other than that, the paper itself is good, as long as you get all that.

Works great with white gouache

I like the density and it holds metallic watercolor and gouache well as long as there isn't too much water. It's not as jet black as my 100% cotton black watercolor paper, but I like the smoother texture. In general, this is useful for my sketchbooks (I do it myself) and preliminary research, but I'll probably use better quality black paper for paintings that can be sold.

Excellent quality! But.

Great product! And it goes well with shades, white crayons and black pigmented eyeliner! The leaves are very thick! My only issue is that the pages come off easily and the sketchbook is a bit damaged, so I only gave it four stars. The book is not strong enough to hold your drawings in the book but if you plan on framing your black drawings. This book is for you! I've never painted on black paper before so it was like a walk in the park!

General purpose, high performance mixed media surface.

This is an excellent mixed media thick art paper. The two unfinished paintings I am providing were created 2 weeks ago for use as backdrops in a local school production shown online. (Needs a black background to match the black curtains - black made the student cast more visible) - This paper is thick and smooth enough to be used with tubular acrylics, watercolors and of course acrylic pens and markers. Loved this product.

Beautiful Durable Paper

The more I draw, the more I like to experiment. I bought some glitter paints, some metallic brushes, some whites, some golds, some magentas and wanted to try them on black paper. I bought another brand that smelled so bad I couldn't use it. Then I saw this and decided to give it a try. The paper is amazing. It works well for layering Posca pens and the new gel pens I'm testing. This black is a great color, not too shiny, not too matte. And it literally doesn't stink (looks at you, Arteza). I've

Heavyweight paper, no canvas

It was my fault, I thought it was tablet paper and not real poster board. I'm new to this and didn't really know mixed media was going to be a paper product. However, as they say, they are very durable and take acrylic paint quite well. The black color makes the colors more muted, but you can apply extra layers and this paper holds them up well. It's difficult to correct mistakes (which I do!) as the paper becomes dull when rubbed or erased. Also, I would like the black to be a more saturated…
