Description of πŸ–‹οΈ Daiso Sumi Calligraphy Liquid Ink - 180ml Bottle (Imported from Japan)

This bottled Sumi ink is made in Japan for calligraphy and brush painting. It is a permanent, stable ink. It cannot be re-wetted or reused once it dries. It does not tend to bleed during the wet-mounting process. After using, the brush can be easily rinsed by dipping in water. Compared with the Chinese counterparts, it does not have the strong ink smell. Recommended to sumi-e and watercolorist artists.

Happy Crafting - Painting Supplies

Really good ink. I practice calligraphy on copper and this ink works very well. I even used it to refill the black ink pad I use for stamping. Perfect. I can paint stamps with watercolors without smearing the ink. However, be sure to only use 5-7 drops per standard sized pad. Use fewer smaller pads. Hope that helps. 😷

Pros
  • This bottled sumi ink is made in Japan for calligraphy and brush painting.
Cons
  • Short manual

Great product - not much is enough

I bought this for an art project for my kids. I was expecting the bottle to be a bit bigger but I found it a lot. The ink is dark and saturated. Dries with shine but is firm. I've found that I can even dilute it with water for our purposes and it's still very greasy and opaque. A little really got us a lot. I was afraid we'd finish, but we used up a tiny portion. It's worth the cost.

Pros
  • arts and crafts supplies
Cons
  • no instructions

Ideal ink for beginners

I really liked this ink. I'm currently learning calligraphy and I've been very good at using this ink. Many people have recommended the Yasutamo brand for beginners, and this brand is exactly the same as theirs. I've shown them side by side and you really can't tell the difference. Mine has already arrived with a really good consistency. I didn't have to add water, thicken it or anything like that. I will definitely take it again and recommend it to others.

this is a very good ink. And yet

This is Daiso ink. I've heard people describe Daiso as a Japanese dollar store, I've never been to one so can't confirm, but I know the price quoted is a huge premium and isn't the same as high quality Japanese sumi -Ink. . Needless to say, very good ink. Yet at this price, it's cheaper and better than anything you'll find in an American craft store. And the dispenser is good and the bottle is pretty, so I'm not even mad.
