Best value for money in a complete tripod

Me: a hobbyist who just bought an M43 camera (Panasonic G3) and is studying art or photography including long exposure Shutter speed for images that require a tripod. However, I don't have $1,000 to spend on gear and need to max out the value, not premium gear across the board. I felt that the tripod was an accessory I could compromise on, not lenses. Tripod: It pretty much matches the description and rating here. Lots of plastic compared to more expensive tripods and heavier than carbon…

Pros
  • Center column with precision gears and 1/4 x 20 accessory bolts
Cons
  • Some cons

UPDATE: Outstanding Warranty Service

I bought this tripod because the other tripod was very unstable and its legs keeps collapsing The Sunpak 8001UT is more than stable, it's solid. In fact, it's heavier than I need for my tiny camcorders and cameras. And it's a lot bigger than my other tripod. I can't just put it in my purse or backpack I have to take it with me. However when I need a tripod this is the most reliable. Able to set up a second set up quickly. Very easy to use. Bubble levels are useful for mounting a camcorder or…

so far so good for ease of use

About MEI I use Nikon D3200 and use 400mm zoom with this unit. I consider myself semi-professional (I'm selling my work to complete my family, but I'm not well known (yet ;-))) I photograph nature and wildlife. I've been using a tripod for about a month. It supports the weight of my camera and a 400mm zoom lens (very heavy). Although I would not trust him a tele or more. I also use it "loosely" so I can move it while following the object. It seems to be of average quality for a tripod in its…

Tired of old reviews. The new model is not as good as the old one

I have both the previous and current versions of this tripod (same model number), both purchased from Revane. The old version (golden brown) is a great tripod for the money. I paid the same amount they are selling for now. I wanted a second tripod for my second camera and bought another one. This is a tripod, it's multi-adjustable, it's lightweight, and it has a quick-release plate. It has some nice features, but it's not what it used to be. This new version (the black tripod pictured in the…
