Too expensive

I love Elta MD products and have been using sunscreen for over 40 years. I bought it because I like the high sun protection factor and because it is odorless, which is important to me. I don't like zinc oxide, it's great as a sunscreen because it always stays thick and white. This is no exception. Remember those photos of badass ski instructors with thick white goo on their noses? It's zinc oxide. This is the best sunscreen, but it's hard to work with. The worst thing you can do to your skin is

"Mineral based " is misleading

I thought I would buy a mineral based product with only Zinc Oxide. After receiving it and reading the ingredients, I found out that it also contains octinoxate 7.5% and octisalat 5%. Octinoxate and many other substances that I can't pronounce. The ingredients in sunscreens with SPF Octinoxate are easily absorbed by our skin and help other ingredients to be better absorbed. While allergic reactions to octinoxate are not common, hormonal imbalances: The chemical's effects on estrogen can beโ€ฆ

High quality, great product, HUGE PRICE INCREASE

This SPF 50 is the best I've tried and I've tried many lotions/sunscreens. (Dr. Obagi is just good but expensive). I am writing this review in May 2017 - about this purchase in May 2015. The product itself is amazing and does not turn your skin white or blue like some Zinc Oxide/Titanium Dioxide products do; However, the price has increased enormously and I am very disappointed. I paid $28.20 for this 7 ounce bottle in 2015 and reluctantly bought it for $48.50 in 2017. I emailed Elta MD butโ€ฆ

With this or any other product on your skin, it's easy to do.

This product was recommended to me by my dermatologist. It was about being non-greasy and a very good daily sunscreen. I use this EVERY day. A small amount goes a long way. I use a penny sized cream in the palm of my hand. I also ordered the foundation that this product comes in. I sent it back because it was oily and the tint looked like vomit on my face. Never put sunscreen on your eyes and by no means apply a moisturizer or sunscreen and don't expect your eye makeup to stay in place. I wearโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Contact Seller

I'm a heavy sunscreen user, but as an African American, most of Physical's sunscreens produce a terrible white cast, either alone or in combination with foundation/powder. I've tried 100% chemical sunscreens and found them too oily or irritating. My dermatologist recommended EltaMD to me and I will never use anything else again. I love that this sunscreen is SPF 50, doesn't leave a white cast on my dark skin and is waterproof. An added bonus is that it doesn't sting when I rub my eyes afterโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Finally bought

  • There are other interesting options.

No need for the brand

Have you seen the price of this item? DO NOT BUY. For a third of the price you get an effective zinc-based sunscreen. No, less: the stuff I replaced it with was 1/3 the price for double the amount. So, do it for "one-sixth the price". The product was recommended by my dermatologist who wants me to cover my body in zinc sunscreen from hairline to toenails. And she's right: Since I've been using zinc products, the brown spots have disappeared, the actinic keratoses no longer appear on the rightโ€ฆ
