Waterproof Queen Mattress Protector: Heavy-Duty Encasement Cover in Superior Extra Heavy 8 Gauge Vinyl Review

This is not 8 gauge vinyl (4 at best), 16" vinyl would stretch it and it tears much more easily than the previous cover I had. This case is on par with Target's cheaper $11 vinyl case. I deliberately bought these instead of Target's as I was hoping for a thicker case that wouldn't rip from knee pressure or bed fiddling.

The product description intentionally misrepresents this product as "8 Gauge Super Heavy Vinyl". No it is not. It's made of very, very thin material. This mattress topper should definitely not be misconstrued as "Superior Extra Heavy" as described by the seller. I don't know if the seller intentionally misled the buyer or just didn't check their product before putting it up for sale, but the fact of the matter is that this product doesn't match the description anywhere. I like that it's not difficult. BUT, it's flimsy along the zipper and literally rips when I fastened it. It was put on correctly, but the plastic along the zipper line is so flimsy I don't know how anyone closed it to keep it from opening. I used tape and it didn't hold. Put this on my son's double bed. It's larger than a mattress (and I ordered a queen) but that doesn't seem to be a problem and I feel like it's easier to tuck your mattress in. So far, my 84-pound son's bouncing hasn't ripped the cover, but I pulled on a clean sheet and a random movement of my hand easily poke a tiny hole in the tip of my nail.
