I bought 1/3 horse. I have about 10 feet of buoyancy and it goes through 80 +/- 1 inch, 40 PVC plan. He's pumping FAST. It usually works within 3-5 seconds, more often and around the same time when it's raining. a bit noisy, about the time you realize what the rumble below is, it's already turned off. That's the sound of my basement being dry! If you don't mind a little extra noise or want to hear that your sump pump is working, then save a few bucks and a spring for this pump.

I spent a few dollars replacing drain pumps at Home Depot and Lowe's. I replaced them, some went up and some just couldn't handle the amount of water that was coming in.
