🎣 Susan Bates 3.5mm Salmon Crochet Hook with Bamboo Handle - Silvalume Head, 5-1/2-Inch Review

I recently received one of these crochet hooks as a gift. I was so happy with how comfortable they are that I decided to order them in all sizes :) You won't be disappointed, they are well made and easy to use. And the hook design really catches the yarn!

I was very lucky to find the Susan Bates Silvalume Head 3.5mm Hook with Bamboo Handle. As a knitter with rheumatoid arthritis, I find these crochet hooks to be the least stressful on my hands. I could find large sizes and very small sizes at craft stores, but this size was out of stock. I would give this 5 stars if this item was available as a custom order rather than an add on. Back then it was frustrating to order other items just to get the hook I needed.

Compared to the standard all-metal Silvalume hooks, the bamboo crochet hook has a less sharp end (see photo). It also has a less deep slit. In the photo on the left a hook with a bamboo handle, on the right a standard hook. The metal of the bamboo handle hook also had pitting and roughness in the finish. All my standard Silvalume hooks are very smooth and precise. This hook is disappointing. This is my second bamboo handle hook from Susan Bates and the other bamboo handle hook was also rougher…
