I love these mittens - Accessories

I love these mittens. This is my second pair as the first has worn out. I live in the mountain west and use them for cross country skiing. These are the only mittens that keep my hands warm. I also love that I can stretch out my fingers without taking off my mittens and I can put hand warmers on too.

Just what I needed and really cold days.

Just what I needed on very cold winter days, I photograph birds from the ground in winter. The biggest challenge is keeping your thumb and forefinger warm enough to feel the camera controls. Swany is the first glove I've been able to work with at 0°F. To make matters worse, I added two heat packs to each glove. One in the liner next to my palm and the other at the end of the mitten touching the backs of my fingers. With just my thumb and the next two fingers open, I was able to work at -13°F…

Medium-weight mitten for outdoor leisure

This turned out to be a good purchase, but in severe frosts you need a heavier mitten. They are good for leisurely days of skiing. I bought these for my 14 year old daughter. Without hand warmers she would have been cold when the temperature in the mountains dropped to 20 degrees. Inside are thin finger separators that may not hold up over time, we'll see. The top zip makes it easy to use your fingers without removing your mittens. It also allows you to put a hand warmer inside. For the price…

Warm and cozy. Great "cheap " alternative to Heat 3

Pros: -Very warm -Unzips to stay cool -Zip opening allows entire arm to slide out Cons: -May be too warm. I tend to overheat easily, but I often reach out to find some relief - the lining is too loose. Seriously, whose fingers are 1 inch in diameter? Finger length is good but too wide. I needed gloves to take photos when traveling to cold weather locations. The Heat 3 gloves look great but are way overpriced for my price range. seem to be the best option - half the price, Primaloft, and fairly…

Warm but I miss the old style

The good news is that it fits and it's warm. The bad news is that you cannot remove the liner. I really miss my old Swany mittens (stolen) with removable pads that allowed me to adapt to changing conditions (I'm ski patrol - we're not picky). In particular, I prefer to wear light gloves. under my mittens so I can keep my hands warm while skiing and have a knack for breastfeeding.

Skin tear after first day in the snow

So I finally tried them snowboarding yesterday and just a day later there was a hole in the leather! phone without taking off the mittens, so I took these, they are also very warm, but they only came one day on the slopes and there is a hole in it?! It's a small puncture but it was only one day on the slopes and the puncture must be due to just tightening the bindings. Maybe I got the wrong pair, although it doesn't look like it. So update, I've been using them for more than a full season and…

Pros
  • Great for a small house

  • Boring packaging
