If you press hard on the sharpener you'll unnecessarily cut off part of the pencil, so I'd suggest using only moderate pressure when inserting the pencil into the sharpener. But overall a great product.

This product sharpened our children's pencils well. But we only had it for 3 months and it just broke! The return period was only a few months away, so we just rented this item for $8 a month. I wouldn't buy it again. We have three children. It has not been used heavily, for example in an office or classroom. Not very good durability.

I liked the modern look of this pencil sharpener, it caught my attention. Sharpens fine except mine has me having to somehow push the shavings tray which comes loose when you're ready to empty it while I'm sharpening or it won't sharpen. I guess it's like having a weak link. It wasn't enough for a return, I can live with the small flaw. If anyone from Swingline is reading this, please take it as a suggestion that this model can be improved.
