Very powerful tools plus excellent tutorial

The best thing is that it's free! I have been working in other programs like Adobe After Effects or Corel Draw but it's very hard to make something good with them. It's easier to create animations with synfig. You can edit all your work with this software so you don't need to save everything as an image sequence. You can add many different effects on your animations to give it more life and realism. This software has a lot of tutorials about how to use it, so there are no problems at all. I…

Pros
  • Easy GUI
  • Free (you just download from Sourceforge)
  • Full customization options.
  • Great amount o tutorial material available online
  • No installation needed anymore
Cons
  • I don't really have any dislikes about this, everything is just fine

Great software tool once one gets accustomed

I like how easy it is to create characters/animations that are similar in style or genre of other works. The program has many different options for making animations, which makes it really flexible if you're looking for something specific out there but don't know exactly how they would do it (such as when you want an anime look). It can be difficult at times figuring out what tools are available, especially when trying to use them all together without having to download additional programs…

Pros
  • Easy interface
  • Lots o' great tutorial videos online.
  • Wide variety between assets from artists around world!
  • Open source code means newbies should feel comfortable starting their own projects too!!
Cons
  • requires advanced knowledge & skillset!
  • lotsa stuff going down behind scenes
  • Sometimes hard find answers via google search
