Worked well until the rivet broke

I love the look and feel of a bottle opener. The stainless steel case is built for tough use and is meant to last a lifetime. After 1 year and maybe 30 uses, the brass rivet fell apart causing the wooden handle to wobble. It still works, but it's a frustrating failure mode.

  • New to my collection

Useless. That does not work.

You think it's not that hard to make a working can opener, right? This thing won't open a can! The small hook that should be hooked on the edge of the glass is not positioned correctly. I thought maybe I could bend it into the working position, but I couldn't. Maybe I just got a defective one, but be careful!

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • A little wrinkled

Item is fine, rivets need superglue

The rivets came loose and I had to fix them a couple of times. It's ok because superglue gets the job done, but it's a good item that's not very high quality and you may need to fix it a few times. I like it, it looks good, I will definitely open a bottle or six, but be aware that this is not a very high quality product to give as a gift.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Minor issues

This can/bottle opener looked great when it arrived. It has a magnet so I attached it to the front of the fridge where it hadn't been used for months. Next I needed to open a large can of vegetable juice, so I grabbed a can opener from the fridge. When the sharp end was first used to poke holes in a large can of vegetable juice, the rivet closest to the sharp end just popped out. As the handles are attached with two rivets and one rivet popped out completely the first time the opener was used…

Metal lug is bent on first use

I love this bottle opener. I do. But yesterday I had to open a hole in a tin can with the pointed end, that's how it's done. I struggled in part because the lid of the jar was bulging. I found that the tab didn't grab the top edge of the can to provide leverage when depressing the tip. I found that the tongue was bent so badly that it couldn't grip the rim of the can. I'm not very strong, and yet it happened. I am disappointed and the return period has expired. I need to get my pliers and try…

The puncture site didn't work well and then didn't work at all

IT IS USELESS to me. On the piercing side is a small metal tab that protrudes and grips the rim of the jar, providing a hold for a sharp, angled point to pierce the jar's lid. This tab is either too small or the metal is too soft. On arrival it was difficult to get enough torque to reach the slanting point to complete the puncture; This means it took 6-8 tries to find the right angle and enough torque to pierce. Over time, it turned out that the metal tongue was bent back even further, and the…
