Definitely not tulle, more like a mosquito net. It's very disappointing, not as pretty (or at all) as the picture, I wouldn't recommend it even if it was half the price.

I have a gray, a very beautiful shade of gray. Not too dark and not too light to make it look boring. He is very soft. My only complaint is that when you set the crib mattress to its lowest setting for a standard crib, that ruffle drags at least 3 inches off the floor. To be honest I think most ruffles are too long for today's low cribs, but it's worth noting.

The tulle is not flimsy as other reviews say. It has a white underside behind it so it doesn't show through completely (see photo). It looks and feels perfect, not cheap at all! Best deal and money spent! Don't be ashamed of a bad review. This is a must! Photos do not convey this justice. Long enough for a cot on the highest mattress.

A very expensive shop is selling a crib skirt that looks like this but is 7 times the price! This is way too long for my crib which is already lowered and I had to slide it through two wooden beams on the sides of the crib which took some time and work.
