Excellent value for money

I originally bought this for a bug elimination kit to have a little one stop shop for important information. This radio is great and I couldn't be happier. Unlike super-prepper radios with useless solar and groovy features that just leave you tanned and irritable, this one simply runs on readily available AA batteries or a 5-pin mini USB. Pros: Simple, feature rich, comes with a carrying case. , headphones, HF antenna and English manual. Cons: No bracket or clip for the telescopic antenna to…

Excellent value for money, multifunctional laptop in its price range.

Ultra-light portable shortwave receiver with excellent value for money. I've only had it a few weeks and I've already registered a lot of shortwave stations from around the world and had some fun with my PL-380. I wish it had a connector for an external antenna and the ability to adjust the sound. But again, given the price, I'm amazed at the sensitivity, selectivity, and full functionality of this little radio. Filters with variable selectivity work quite well. If you are interested in…

Basically a great compact radio with some unique features

This radio is comparable to other Tecsuns - in other words - great! Here are two unique features of this radio that even high-end Tecsun don't have: - the ability to leave the radio's LCD display on - you have a clock radio! - AM filtering 6kHz, 4kHz, 3kHz, 2kHz and 1kHz! that means you can selectively (i.e. manually) choose a passband filter! Other key features include: - internal NiMh battery charger - mini-USB port for easy charging with a laptop, wall unit or small solar panel…

Perfect emergency radio

I wanted a small emergency radio to replace my old Grundig radio. This radio can do more than just get the job done. The 15 inch external antenna is a big bonus and really helps with FM and SW reception. The radio is very easy to use and I LOVE the dial on the side when scrolling through the presets. This is a very easy way to change channels. A neoprene carrying case is included for convenient storage of the radio, antenna, manual and included headphones. The headphones look simple but sound…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Great radio to add to your collection or just start a collection.

Wonderful radio. Small, compact and sensitive. Nothing complicated. I've owned many portable SW radios since the 1960's and this is one of my favorites. It doesn't have SSB, but with my long wire antenna I picked up stations from India, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and even pointed the BBC at Africa. much stronger. Here in Northwest New Jersey I can travel to Cincinnati at 700 khs and not transfer from the WOR in New York at 710 khs. The same applies to 11:20 from St. Louis and 11:30 from New York. Of…

  • Excellent price
Cons
  • There are cons

The Tecsun ® PL-380 is a high quality portable AM (also known as "MW" for medium wave) FM radio receiver. Amazing value at around $45. Crisp and clear sound quality; with STEREO available with headphones on on channels broadcasting in FM stereo. Also included is a shortwave clip-on antenna for attaching to the built-in telescopic antenna, and a very handy headphone jack. ETM (Easy Tuning Method) allows you to quickly and easily scan and lock available channels in the AM/MW FM and HF bands…

Great for radio enthusiasts but not for normal listening

Tecsun PL-380 is very popular with radio amateurs who want a small, inexpensive radio receiver with the ability to connect a large number of transmitters, and that includes AM (AM), FM, Shortwave and Longwave. I will not comment on LW as there are no LW broadcasts in North America. But the PL-380 is sensitive and selective to MW, FM and HF. Sensitivity and selectivity are as good as any radio of this size and price I've come across. It has an excellent bandwidth selector for AM modes which is…

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Dull packaging

Incredible returns from your radio!

I've been listening to shortwave for 61 years, I've been a radio amateur for 32 years and I've worked in military communications for many years. I've had receivers from the 1920's which I've worked on most and enjoyed for many years. The reason I mention all of this is that it might give my review a little more weight than a review from someone who doesn't really know what they're talking about. I received the radio on Thursday and have been testing it on AM, SW and FM for many hours. I was…
