Bought for my roommate who smokes because I'm sick of him throwing his butt in our kitchen waste and it stinks. It's smaller than I thought but works great, holds a lot more than expected and the top opens so you can take your cigarette out and then flip the lid off to throw it in the bin.

Bought for my friend who smokes, I understand. In any case, the flip cap is convenient for putting down the cigarette and then turning it over to get rid of the cigarette. Unfortunately, there is no way to unscrew the lid. You have to open the top and shake everything around. This results in splashes of ash and in many cases water (the ash tray is outside). Just a mess, wish it was easier to clean and I would give it 5 stars.

I don't smoke myself but I have friends who smoke and there were cigarette butts on the table when I visited. They are considerate enough that they don't smoke or try to clean up when my son is with me, but sometimes he comes across a cigarette butt that they forgot to throw away, so I decided to give them an ashtray.
