Our car's battery has been upgraded to a slightly larger battery. This meant the original battery cover didn't fit so I bought this kit to replace it. I found the material very easy to cut and actually looks and insulates better than the original screen.

A conductive mat near the battery cables just doesn't sound like a good idea. I had an arc during installation as it is easily grounded. This is the positive side that you have to worry about. I protected it as best I could and it seems like the foil will retract as soon as there are sparks without igniting. I trusted him enough to leave him for now.
