I used this to make candy. I didn't want to use another one typically made for meat to stick to liquid candies. cross contamination and such. Definitely very happy with the ease of use. I didn't need to read the manual, the buttons were intuitive enough to guide me through basic functions. One star deducted because the current list price is much higher than what I paid for my other meat thermometer.

This is a good thermometer that can be used for a variety of purposes including frying, grilling, barbecuing, soup and tea. So far I've used it for air roasted chicken thighs and tea. This works fairly well, although for some reason the readings don't stabilize quickly when measuring. However, in my experience I have found that it is quite accurate. I like the hold function but it doesn't hold the temperature very well. Otherwise great feature. I love the temperature alarm setting for making jams, donuts and frying. We strongly recommend that you scan the instructions and save them to your computer as setting the temperature alarm is not intuitive. It is very easy to hold and the metal spike folds securely. Requires a manual push to turn it on. A discharged battery with an automatic shutdown will last a long time.
