Great filter: Accessories

The solar filter is just great. I started using it as soon as I got it. I tested the filter on a Canon 7D II with a Canon 300mm F4 lens. It worked wonderfully.

Pros
  • Camera and photo
Cons
  • Big and bulky

The filter is a thin piece of foil, not solid plastic

The reflective foil fell out of the ring when I tried to remove the filter and turn it on during an eclipse. I had to glue it to the adapter to even use it and I couldn't find a way to get it back into a stable position in the ring. It was a waste of money and almost took away my ability to photograph the eclipse.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Doubtful

Works very well - this is the correct solar filter

I bought this filter in preparation for the 21st August 2017 solar eclipse. I plan to shoot with a crop sensor (7D II or 80D) and a 70-200 f/2.8L IS II or 300mm f/4L lens with a 1.4x extender. Both use 77mm filters. I tested it today on my 5D Mark IV and it works very well. First a little background. I bought this filter on Roger Clark's recommendation on his website. As an MIT-trained engineer, he knows what he's talking about. There is a lot of talk about using 10-stop ND filters to captureโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Filter and accessories
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
