Efficiency Plus: Camping

The increase in height over the old windshield is a plus, but the loss of stability is a small minus. Evernew now has three variations of their extraordinary little spirit lamp. With the ease of getting canisters on the trail, the use of alcohol stoves is declining (along with the fact that California has a ban on unnatural fuel). I use spirit lamps for four day trips or shorter. They are fun to use for technical violin users. This stand adds to the fun!

STAY AWAY. ZERO STARS. Stand does not fit, two different orders.

Bought this lamp stand. The first order had two pieces that didn't fit together, the second order had the same problem. The two pieces should have slots pointing in opposite directions (see images at the top of the product page). Both orders had the slots facing the same direction, rendering the stand unusable (see attached image). It might be better to buy this from a non-repackaging seller; I suppose this is where the confusion comes in. EDIT - The 3rd stand I worked on fine. Still. 1 out of…

About the right height

I have both the Evernew Ti Stove Cross Stand and this Evernew Ti Stove Cross Stand 2. The first version is shorter than the '2' version. Through experimentation, I found that 1.25 inches is the distance I need between the bottom of the pot and the top of the spirit stove to quickly boil water without soot (here at sea level). From what I've read it's called "Sweet Spot" and works well for both a 550ml pot and a liter pot. Stand "2" offers a 1 1/16 inch spacing while the other stand is shorter…

Raise jet of flame to bottom of pot for greater efficiency

The original 1-cross stand didn't offer what was considered optimal distance from the Evernew Ti jets to the bottom of the brew pot. In this version 2, this distance is increased by 1/2 inch. The Evernew has a 1/2" split between the bottom and top jets, so the original boat was 1" from the bottom jets and 1/2" from the top. ; Hence version 2 places vessel 1 -1/2" and 1" apart allowing for more efficient heating of the denatured alcohol. Additionally, when used with Trangia burner designs, the…

Better there. in camping stoves

I have to agree with the previous reviewer (Kim) that this stand is very light and feels flimsy. Thickness of the paper in a greeting card? I'll admit I've only tested it once, but even that was enough to notice that it wobbled when anything larger than a couple cups of water in a pot was placed on it, and that was a test against a concrete block on mine Terrace. I compared this stand to the Lixada stand and the Evernew only beats the Lixada in terms of weight. Customs service. BUT if you turn…
