Ideal for open body guitars!

I like that it's water based. I could mix small amounts at a time and apply to the guitar's mahogany body with my index finger. I used a vinyl body scraper to remove the excess but will use a credit card or harder plastic next time to reduce the sanding. After sanding and applying Tru-oil everything worked great! Much cheaper than Smac and covers 8 or more guitars.

Terrible product on hardware

If I could give this product a '0' I would. It's gummy and doesn't spread well. In addition, when dried, it does not look like wood at all (see photo). I don't understand why anyone gave a high rating. The only reason I'm not upset is because he's in the closet. If it was in the main room of the house it would be a disaster. I still hate looking at him when I open a closet. I'm thinking about painting the closet bottom black so it doesn't show up.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Good but not great

WOW, WHO KNOW?! Great filler for grain etc.

If you have furniture with a lot of exposed fibers or a pain problem and want something like a general finish that does NOT require a full sanding and priming then just fill the grain , then the pain. And after sanding it down, clean it and put it back in the glass to restore it. Reminiscent of clay (former pottery) but there is no shrinkage. It dries VERY hard, like clay. I LOVE that you can reuse sharpened bits! SUPERIOR grain filler, hole filler, knot filler.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Great product for finishing touches

I have worked with mahogany for many years and have only recently started using wood grain putty, it makes a world of difference when I finish a project. I usually just use boiled linseed oil for finishing and this prepares the surface nicely to take a simple coat of oil. Rubbing makes it much smoother. Very easy to use. You can smudge it with your fingers or press into the grain with a plastic scraper. Then grind it into a pile, blot it up and use it again. Only negative is this thing stinks…

Smells pretty bad - Adhesives & Sealants

Has a weird smell, I heard a person said it was a patch but after sanding the smell really doesn't go away until you use some kind of coating, the stain won I don't do this, but it helps, so be sure to plan on using some finish. Now I have a lifetime supply of this stuff, it lasts a long time and I used it on a tree that needed a lot. but I took the color I used for coloring and just darkened that color so it doesn't look like it's going to stay the same color, but the effect is very good…

best wood putty knife on the market

best wood putty knife I have ever used and I have tried many of them even with glue and my own sawdust. Lately I've been using it mainly as a grain filler/for coloring. I mix with water and draw. absolutely perfect results. for your information. Use only a small amount of wood mat if using as a grain filler/stain. Basically all you need is some thick colored water. Otherwise, you will wipe most of it off with a damp cloth. (wet rag works better than sanding) The only complaint I have is that it

Good for filling grain, not for filling voids.

Very pleased with the results when used as a grain filler. Not so much with filling the gap. It is supposed to be able to do both, but is actually only acceptable as a grain filler. As a grain filler, it spreads easily when diluted. It polishes quickly. Don't let the horrible pink color fool you, when it dries, once the coating is applied it blends in instantly. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the void filler. For anything larger than the pores of a tree, the color match is just…
