Although long lasting, it crushes ice very well, is the perfect size and feels good in the hand. But it took almost 3 months before one of the fingers on the cheap plastic base broke. Why this part of the crusher is made of plastic and not metal like crusher blades is not clear. But we're having a hard time finding a crusher that has both metal blades and finger bases.

This ice crusher is excellent for light home use when crushing ice for cocktails or other beverages. I tried using my blender but it didn't crush the ice evenly so I bought this crusher. It's easy to use and great for making drinks like mai tais and other tikki cocktails that require crushed ice. It doesn't feel super strong or durable, but I think it's great for general home use. For the price I would definitely buy it again. For your health!

I was hoping it would be more like the manual ice crusher we had when I was younger. Something about the sharpness and blade set makes it a bad design. Every few turns of the handle I have to change direction in hopes of catching ice cubes that way. Only works about half the time. I wanted something with a smaller footprint than the electric grinders currently available. Should have known better. It's not very durable so I don't know how long it will last. I agree with those who say this works great but self-destructs over time. Crushing ice is no easy task. Vacuuming on soapstone kitchen surfaces works great. I think we can hitch a tow truck to it and tow the house. Crank a little. . . Well, suffice it to say that the ergonomics are weak. It's a bit awkward to turn.
