Cheap WiFi Thermostat

I used one of these with an InkBird C929 to make a cheap mains controlled thermostat and it matches my mechanical (bimetal contacts) RV oven thermostat perfectly.

Pros
  • Product Type: Power Relay with Lead Wires; SPST(1NO)
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

I thought it was SPDT as per description

But unfortunately I didn't look closely at the photo, this is SPST. I needed one with a normally closed and normally open contact, but this one doesn't have one.

Pros
  • coil voltage: 120VAC; 30A SPST 240VAC
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled

Warning, a 24VDC coil will not work with a 24VAC transformer.

Bought as too good a solution to replace my built in vacuum motor relay. Many fan motors, AC motors, or similar motors operate on 24 VAC. Transformer to power the thermostat or the control circuit. The characteristics of this relay seemed ideal, but when installed, the relay vibrated heavily. Upon closer inspection, the relay case clearly shows that the coil is rated for 24 VDC. A coil designed for AC will work with DC, but not vice versa. It's my fault in the end, but if you're trying to apply

Pros
  • Epoxy sealed versions available
Cons
  • Could have gone for a newer model
