Description of πŸ”’ Time-Synced Token2 miniOTP-2 NFC Programmable Two-Factor Security Token

Works with authentication systems that support TOTP tokens: Google, Facebook, Coinbase, GDAX, Dropbox, GitHub, Kickstarter, Microsoft, TeamViewer, etc. Programmable an unlimited number of times. Features syncable clock to prevent issues with drift. About half the size of a credit card and just as thick-easily keep multiple cards in wallet. Works with "Token2 Token Burner" or "Protectimus TOTP Burner", both available in the Google Play Store. Currently NOT compatible with iPhone. More secure than software token as your codes cannot be intercepted by malware on your phone.

Easy to use once you figure out some of the cryptic directions.

I bought this token to test with Azure MFA. Typically, tokens of this type are purchased directly from Token2 or through their distribution network and not from Revain. When purchased through this process, you receive the secret encryption key required to set up the token in Azure MFA. Luckily, since it's a programmable token, you can download a tool from the Token2 website that allows you to set up a new key and get a private key. NFC software running either on your phone or on a Windows…

Pros
  • Can be programmed an unlimited number of times. Enables synchronized clocks to avoid drift issues
Cons
  • Empty

Pretty thin, needs a phone with NFC to program.

Pretty thin, requires a mobile phone with NFC for programming. I couldn't get it to work with SHA-256, but it worked fine with SHA-1 as an alternative to Google Authenticator.

Pros
  • More secure than a soft token as your codes cannot be intercepted by malware on your phone.
Cons
  • Almost everything included

Works as advertised

I recommend using the Protectimus TOTP Burner app with this programmable token and not with Token2 (both are available for free on Google Play Store and both work with this token). The Protectimus app is easier to use and more reliable for me.

Pros
  • Works with Token2 Token Burner or Protectimus TOTP Burner available on Google Play Store. Currently NOT compatible with iPhone.
Cons
  • Some little things
