I'm still looking for testers

Still can't find the location of the short circuit. The device will give incorrect readings if scanned too close to the radio speakers due to the magnets.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Nice to find shorts

It does what you expect it to do. Working with this tool is greatly simplified. If you need to find a short I would recommend having this tool.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Negativity present

Did the job. useful for testers

Short circuit found in a 1937 classic car. Shorted the wire under the license plate cover to the license plate light. Without this tool, it would take a long time to find many backups.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Nothing here

Didn't work for me?

Doesn't work for me! Followed limited instructions but couldn't use it at all to find a wiring problem. I ended up buying a Power Probe PWP-ECT3000B Circuit Tracer and found my problem in just minutes!

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Not sure

Not sure if this tool works yet!

I have tried many times to use this product but it has not helped me at all. I have lost confidence in this product. It's easy to use, but hasn't found a single bad wire yet. I generally don't use it anymore unless I have time constraints for work. Even then I don't really trust the results as I've had poor results before. I wish there was an electrical buzz when a short is detected rather than just a wide sensor.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Weight

Classic Tool on Testers

IMHO the only way to detect shorts in trucks and buses where you have to cover a lot of space. I've been using these types of detectors for years and couldn't even calculate how much time they saved. What I like is the sound signal. You can wire the tool to the fuse panel (I usually make the ends that go into the fuse sockets on the fuse panel with plastic blades by breaking apart the plastic fuse and using the metal ends to connect to each side of the circuit in the fuse ). The panel I'm…

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
