I like it but there are some problems

Firstly this is my first MP3 player so I have no comparison. I'm delighted that there is so much music available in this tiny car, it's one of my favorite toys and well worth the investment. If you don't have one but love music, get it. PRO: Navigation is a bit annoying, but I hear it mostly is. There are at least categories like "Album" and "Artist". I've heard it's better than the iPod for that. Plenty of room for music, I've barely scratched the surface by downloading over 200 albums. The…

I liked the device after replacing the firmware

So I bought it in 2006. Used quite intensively for 3-4 years. I popped out of storage while cleaning the other day and found that the battery life is terrible now. But it still works. As far as I can remember, the firmware and software on this device was complete rubbish. It had very clumsy, dumb software that had to be used to transfer music to the device. I went for it despite people complaining that they used the Gigabeat while running and the momentum of shaking completely ruined the player. Every time I've used the Gigabeat I've had major issues and been careful with it. It has a soft touch, but it just keeps swiping up and down without pausing in between. I can't access menus, play songs, or do anything…

Great Windows Media player for the masses

I switched all my music to digital a long time ago. However, since I was using Windows Media Player and had over 35GB of music, I didn't want to go the iPod/iTunes route and repeat everything. I looked at different players (iRiver, Creative, Toshiba) and finally settled on the Gigabeat F40 based on the screen, capacity, WMA support and price. it is a 5 star rating. At first I was probably in the 2-3 range. Most of my music was ripped in Windows Media Lossless format, which the player (and the…
