Another immediate return

Burnt by buying Funai that cannot rewrite VHS to DVD, this time I carefully read not only personal reviews, some of which are obviously fake, but also the statements of the manufacturer . Toshiba clearly states that this device will transfer VHS to DVD. The device I received will not. The instructions suck, I had to get precise instructions elsewhere from people calling Toshiba support. So yes I had a DVD_R, yes I set the record mode to L1 and yes I tried more than one tape. The car didn't want

Good VHS Archiver

I use it to archive old VHS tapes to DVD-R discs at work. So far this has worked quite well. Out of the 300 or so VHS tapes I converted, only 2 discs gave an error saying they couldn't be burned. One of the bugs actually stalled the machine and had to power cycle it. Still, for 300+ drives, not too bad. I've had to clean the heads once so far. Most of the tapes I converted were from the early to mid 90's and were stored in appalling conditions. Unsurprisingly, the tapes get dirty and degrade to

Very good device!

When I found out about this I was actually looking for a "related" product. To buy a VHS-DVD combo, all I needed was a "standalone" DVD burner. my computer, but the quality seemed to lack more than I wanted or expected, so I turned to finding a DVD burner. So the DVD recorder I was looking for was VERY HIGH in price compared to last year when I first came across it. The price went from $140 to hundreds of dollars! But this device was newer and much cheaper! !Now I've had it for several months…

Works fine after calling Toshiba

I bought this DVD recorder to copy many old family videos from VHS to DVD. Our home movies date back to 1988. After some tips from Toshiba customer service, I was able to successfully burn my old home videos to DVD with the recorder. Like some other users, I found that when following the dubbing instructions on a DVD, the recorder displayed a "forbidden" symbol in the form of a crossed out red circle. After trying different brands of DVDs, I called Toshiba. I got some very helpful advice from…

Excellent VHS recorder to DVD and direct from TV

I have had this model for almost 3 years (purchased from Revain in January 2014) and it is still working. It records beautifully and reliably straight from your TV/cable channel. And I use it often. He also records from VHS to DVD. All you have to do is insert a cassette into the cassette slot and a blank recordable DVD (but not Blu-ray) into the DVD tray. Then press the "Overwrite" button on the remote control (and not the separate "Record" button, which is only used for recording directly…
