The transfer case motor is part of the four-wheel drive (4WD) system of some vehicles and is responsible for switching between the different two-wheel and four-wheel drive options of the vehicle. It is a small electric motor that can move parts within the transfer case to activate various modes of the 4WD system. The transfer case shift motor may malfunction for various reasons. Because it is located under the car body, it may be corroded by road salt or dirt (especially if you often take the vehicle off the road). Electric motors can also be damaged by road debris and wear out over time. If the transfer case motor does not work, it may not be possible to swap in or out of the four-wheel drive, which may be a big problem. Therefore, it is essential to replace it quickly.
