Both bushings need to be replaced

Bushings need to be replaced under vehicle and inside console. Both broke at different times so after replacing the first bushing I found I needed to replace the second on my Jeep Wrangler. They're both very straightforward when it comes to replacing them, but they're both in hard-to-reach places, which made the job harder than I thought.

Fits my 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport

I know it's not for the 2005 Jeep Liberty but it fits on the transfer case side under the car. I heated it on the heater for a few minutes and then plugged it in. It's a tight fit, but it worked! I had to use a vise to attach the grommet to the cable. Once I did that I was able to press the bushing onto the transfer case lever. I hope this post helps someone else who has been in my situation.

Fits 2006 Liberty Transfer Case!

Purchased for my 2006 KJ Liberty with Selec-Trac 4x4, this bushing holds the transfer case push/pull cable to the transfer case selector. It fits perfectly. Please note: you must install it into the cable hole first and then snap it onto the stud, otherwise it will be *damaged if you install it onto the stud first and then put the eyelet on it. He just snaps. No force is required. If you have to force it, you're doing it wrong or the area needs to be cleared of debris. Photos before and after…

Buy an extra in case you or your buddy need it.

This little piece of plastic may embarrass you if it breaks. I was walking down a trail called "Last Chance Canyon" in my JK Jeep. When shifting to 4-low, that little piece came loose and I was stuck at idle. Luckily we were able to temporarily attach the cable so I could broadcast. I bought this part and installed it in about 20 minutes (had to remove some fenders). It's a fairly simple setup and so far it's holding up very well. I'll take another one with me in case I or someone in my group…

Even buy it as a spare!

A few weeks ago my automatic transmission hub failed. It is very similar to this for the transfer case. I should have just bought a few and replaced them all on my 2007 JKR, but. Three weeks later I go out to the track and put the 4WD on and the shifter just dangles. Eh, that jack under the console refused. So I ordered four of these and replaced both the transfer case bushing and the shift bushing and I have a few spares. Too cheap not to leave too much. I hope they are made from a more…
