When used with a HDMI over Cat5 extender (B126-002 or B126-004), this unit is compatible with both stereo audio and 7.1 channel surround sound audio (7.1 channel surround sound signal will be Multi-Channel or PCM). Good instructions and easy installation.

The instructions were easy to understand and attached to the hanging tubes with a single strap. After a few weeks of use, they appear to be working properly.

Not quite.: Accessories and consumables

So it works but I don't recommend it. He tested it at about 20 feet Category 6 with no issues, but it didn't work at about 75 feet Category 6. I had to buy power supplies for both ends. I don't see any real advantage in this. If you are less than 50 feet I would just buy an expensive HDMI cable. Definitely test asap when you buy. I couldn't send it back as I've been looking for a malfunction for too long.

Pros
  • Well done
Cons
  • There are flaws

Good choice for remote control power strips

Works right out of the box, no setup, true plug and play. I bought this to extend the HDMI from my DirecTV receiver to a small HD TV in the kitchen. Approximately 100 feet CAT5e to remote B126-1PO with no power. The local HDMI output of this model won me over, allowing me to avoid buying an HDMI splitter.- - - - -Updated June 17, 2015 Having my sincerest regards from Tripp Lite after solving the issue, here is part of the e-mail dialog " B126-004 connected to B126-1A0 via 30m CAT5e cable Remote

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Upgrades

I really expected more from this brand

I absolutely do not recommend this device. Tried using it with passive receivers with HDMI built into the cable, thought it was a great idea and would be if it worked. My guess is that the HDMI display port needs to get a certain amount of power. The thing is, it didn't work AT ALL with my TV (or the other two I tested it on), but it worked GREAT with my projector. I say it worked because it randomly turned on and off while watching something. This seems to be consistent with many other reviews

Pros
  • When used with an HDMI over Cat5 extender (B126-002 or B126-004) this unit is compatible with both stereo and 7.1 surround sound (7.1 surround sound is multi-channel). Channel or PCM)
Cons
  • Some problems

Just doesn't work for remote control extensions

Doesn't work. You might think that these are plug-and-play devices. They didn't work, so I hired a professional to do the wiring in our newly built home. They confirmed that Cat5e provides the signal, but these converters do not pass the signal. The pro said that Tripp Lite is a reputable brand that they have used many times in the past. "No cheap nameless stuff from China," they said. Too bad these didn't work.

Pros
  • Audio and video accessories
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Not the best choice for home theater.

I think this item is for commercial use. I was trying to send video and audio from my office PC to two HDTVs in other rooms of the house using a 24 AWG category 5e fixed cable. One TV (at 50ft) picked up no signal at all, and another TV (at 100ft) ran at 720P but dropped frames from full screen videos. The sound on the TV that worked was perfect. I tried 3 different graphics cards from 2 different manufacturers; XFX HD5670, XFX HD6770 and Sapphire HD6770 Flex. This splitter shows up as aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • remote controls and accessories
Cons
  • fragile
