Surge Protector

This is the second pair I'm buying. This really is a lightning rod. My first pair caught fire and fried. But it protects the $25,000 ATM and key. The machine is outside the building and the cable runs underground. Lightning strikes the ground where the cable runs.

Easy to install in surge protector

I can't say how the surge protector works because since I installed it, our house has been struck by lightning again. We originally had some damaged solar arrays connected to our router so I installed them between the two hoping to prevent future damage. Installation was easy enough, we'll just have to wait and see if it really does what it's supposed to.

tripp-lite: surge protector

I was looking for a surge protector for my PHONE line but ordered this product which was designed for a computer or similar items. My phone has a smaller jack. I'm on a satellite dish right now, so I don't need that kind of jammer. I reformatted the right part. It's not the company's fault or Revain's fault I ordered the wrong one. I'll have to be more careful when googling in the future. I assume the product would work fine if I used it.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Big and bulky

The Walmart customer service lady read this description in Revain and said that it would protect the built in phone line from lightning, and offered to let me have it to buy; but that is an error in the description. It can be used as a surge protector, but is not suitable for telephone sockets. About every two years in Florida my flash goes out during a Florida thunderstorm. I still can't find a solution to save the destruction and I have to buy a new phone every time.

Pros
  • Consistent test results

  • Negative result present

Not suitable and unsuitable for gigabit networks!

I purchased several of these protectors after a nearby lightning strike caused significant damage to my networking equipment. When using a gigabit network, after installing protectors, the network speed dropped to several kbps, down to zero. Removing it brought the network back to normal speeds. When buying protectors from another brand, in the name of which there is already a gigabit network, these problems did not arise. After checking the product description, I noticed at one point that…

Good extra protection

This device is a good extra protection. It requires a ground lug to function, which is rare on most computers. The UPS I use has a ground connection, so I connected the device to it. While it is recommended that the device be grounded to the computer, I actually wanted to disconnect the ground from the computer due to the voltages on the ethernet ground line. bare wire. Small differences in the neutral and ground voltages can indicate an increase in resistance of old cables or other…

Actually not a good surge protector

Sounds like a great idea at first glance, but you really have to ask yourself where the surge voltage is diverted to? And can the increase actually arrive where it is accepted? The answer is that it is asked to drop it on "Safety Ground", which is not a substitute for EARTH (Earth). When the green wire is twisted, the impulse does not propagate through the wire and has to go somewhere, that is, to the connected devices. The damage won't necessarily be instantaneous, but it will be cumulative…

Doesn't work with gigabit switches or NICs

I've never owned anything from Tripp Lite but I know they have an excellent reputation for quality. This review is more of a warning to those who might make the same mistake I did than a genuine review of the product. So you understand my experience. I'm a bit new to computers, not an expert but someone who builds my own PCs and works in the IT industry (servers, storage and networks) in sales and marketing and is responsible for technical issues. knowledge and training. I'm so used to the fact
