Meet the need for a quick repair

I had to make some adjustments to get the unit working properly but I didn't have an emergency release latch so it will eventually need to be replaced for a professional repair.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • I don't remember

Fits 2001 Jetta 1.8t Wolfsburg

Fits perfectly, no rework required to set exact position on old spring, sturdy and also comes with new plastic strut connecting parts so you can easily replace the struts Don't need to use old ones when they're worn out

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Does not fit all

Be careful when choosing parts

This part will fit but I skipped the part of the listing that said there was NO inner trunk opening. So I installed and used it for about a week expecting the same from another seller. Overall satisfied with the part, the list could be clearer.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Fairly OK

No anchor point for emergency release cable

Fits OEM on our 2002 Jetta 2.0L but this drive does not have an emergency release function. Not a big deal as I don't expect to lock myself (or anyone else) in the trunk, but it's definitely worth mentioning if you're looking for an exact replacement. I would remove the emergency gear cable to keep it from rattling in the trunk lid.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Only available in black

Slightly more tolerance than factory OEM

I did a few tries to get the trunk to close easily and the door light to work properly. Once that was achieved, everything worked perfectly. On my 2004 Jetta GLI, pull the latch so the screws touch the back of the holes, then tighten the screws securely. I also had to lubricate the latch with WD40 for smoother operation. For less than half the price of a factory OEM, it was worth the little extra effort.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Only available in white

Near perfect match to OEM part

Near perfect match to OEM part. Nothing to disturb the installation, just a slight narrowing of the hole where the jamming sensor is located. Otherwise, installation is as simple as it is intuitive. If you are used to taking things apart, you will not find it difficult to fix the trunk. What usually fails is the tiny return spring inside the assembly. I managed to reconnect mine and make another year out of it. It finally broke recently and I found these guys at Revain.

Pros
  • Builds confidence
Cons
  • Expensive
