Good outdoor pond pump

Bigger than expected and only worked when submerged, couldn't work outside as a 'suction' pump; he could not lift the water. But as a dive boat it is best used in an open pond due to its size.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Secret

Pumps a lot of water

Pumps a lot of water but very little pressure. With a 1.5" hose, it fills a 5 gallon bucket in no time. Scaling it down to 0.5" tubing gives you the same pressure, so it takes 3 or 4 times as long to fill the same bucket. It works great in my fish pond so I'm happy.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

DO NOT USE AS INTERNAL PUMP

DO NOT USE as an in-line pump. I repeat, DO NOT use as an in-line pump, the fittings leak, they are not standardized in size and the fittings are very cheap plastic. I drilled holes in the bucket that leak less than this pump. If you're using it as a submersible pump, you probably won't notice any noise or leakage, but as an in-line pump, it lets more water through than it can handle.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • There is an error

Hose adapters will not fit regular hose

Tried all hose types. I took the smallest adapter in the home depot. Pipes or hoses are not suitable for these nozzles. I found a 1" hose to match, but 10ft costs more than this pump! You have to understand that no garden hose or any cheap pipe will fit in this thing! After a day of trying out all kinds of whistles around my house (and I have a lot of them!) and several trips to home camp, I gave up and returned it.

Pros
  • Enjoy
Cons
  • No power

Great pump at a great price

This pump is great so far. It currently runs through a 1 inch polypropylene pipe into a sump filter with an overall height of about 18 inches and a waterfall overflow about 10 inches wide. First, the water flow is perfect. I haven't done exact calculations, but the flow is about 900 GPH even after going through 2 insert elbows, a coupler and a 12" deep gravel bed. It's perfect for a small waterfall. Second, this pump is noiseless. I have submerged it about 8" in water and it's completely still.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some small things
