Where we live you can't throw away a mattress without putting it in a bag so it was necessary to throw away a relatively new mattress which we replaced. It was thick, durable, and probably worked well as a protective cover when placed under a mattress topper or something. The only thing that surprised me was that it was translucent. So if you plan to use it to hide an ugly mattress pattern or something like that, it's not a good choice. But overall it's perfect for this type of use.

This is a very thin mattress tote bag. I'll be surprised if it stays intact long enough to get to a moving truck. It comes in a small, thin pouch. I expected it to be thicker for transporting my mattress from New York to Virginia. You definitely get what you pay for. My furniture will be stored for a few months after the move. I saw good reviews about it and decided to give it a try. It fits my full size 8" deep futon and the 3" comforter I put over it. I had no problem putting it on without tearing and was able to secure it with tape but when it came out of the truck after 3 miles it was a disaster.
