UGears UTG0017 Wooden Mechanical Combination Kit Review

This is such a fun and cool puzzle! I got it for someone else but the look on her face when she finished the project made it more valuable than I paid for! Once assembled it feels pretty solid and you can use it to hide things if you like. The size is big because it is not big enough to take up much space but big enough to be used. Now I feel the need to buy more puzzles from this company!

I have bought many of these for my son. He really enjoys working on these puzzles. However, this had problems. The pieces broke as soon as he took them out of the box. I was able to return it but the price has increased. Exchange was not possible. I contacted the company to see if I could get it for the same price I originally paid and I never got a response from the company. Terrible customer service. Very disappointed.

I liked all the other UGEAR puzzles but this one is not very good. All of this is collected on toothpicks, one of which *breaks*. The others will then snap if you try to slide all those layers of wood siding off of them. Then you have nothing. Others will tell you they collected them without destroying a single toothpick and I believe them. I take my hat off to those who didn't have problems. This model is not suitable for people like me; nothing good.

The model is well made, fits well and works as it should. The only thing that was a little misleading was the notion that thousands of combinations were possible. They are . but once you've decided on one and built a castle, that's it. The combination cannot be changed without dismantling the lock, which is accomplished by using toothpick wedges driven in so hard they can't get out, almost would be impossible. It says it should be assembled by a child, but my daughter was helped by her father and brother. The toothpicks that hold everything together are not a standard size, they are of a smaller diameter. We found out about this after breaking one and trying to find a replacement. We ended up cutting a regular toothpick to the correct diameter. My daughter is having more fun with it now that it is fully assembled, but I was hoping she could put it together. I suggest this for someone who is older and

The thing is quite neat and not difficult to assemble. Assembled in just a few hours. Be sure to take your time and follow the instructions. Like the other reviewer, I was a bit confused about the combo part, but looking at the packaging helped. Just make sure the numbers in the combination look right. It was a fun build. I had sandpaper but didn't use it. I just used an Xacto knife to deburr the pieces. I also coated the axles with melted candle wax. I'm pretty sure installing them helped…
