It Works Well - Marking Tools

Better than I expected. Easily scratches paintwork and easily marks metal surfaces. What I really like is that it is much larger than expected. Really great length for easy use and easy for you to find too!

Pros
  • One end has a straight tip; another at 90 degrees
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Large selection of mechanics.

This is the same high quality markup/pick tool that you won't find at the artisans anymore. with hard hardened ends. Ullman makes a lot of great picks in a variety of styles. This one is undoubtedly superior to the cheap General Tools soft pick, which bent slightly on mine.

Pros
  • Effective for removing springs, packing, washers or gaskets.
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Bad excuse for what is advertised as a quality writer. More Chinese junk?

Steel scraper ends are threaded for attachment to soft aluminum tubing. It won't stay stressed. Rotating the end of the pick 90 degrees unscrews it from the barrel. This is another example of an overpriced product from China Junk!

Pros
  • High polished carbon steel
Cons
  • Non-automatic

Almost the same as used in US Navy aviation

I fell in love with these scribes while working on helicopters have. Sharp enough to (accidentally) pierce fingers, but strong enough to withstand some abuse before the point is bent or broken. While not identical to the ones I used back then, they are functionally the same and look like high quality instruments compared to some of the cheaper options available.

Pros
  • For the technician or tradesman who needs a sharp marking tool that will work in both confined spaces and normal conditions
Cons
  • Not sure

The best of the best in marking tools

I've been using picklocks for about 40 years. There are many different versions and this is the best I've seen. It's heavy and feels like a quality tool in your hand. The ends are screwed into a central aluminum handle. Several reviews mentioned that the ends are unscrewable. When you receive it, the first thing you should do is unscrew the ends, and some of the threads are smeared with thread sealant. If you don't have anything for this purpose, some nail polish or hard glue will do.

Pros
  • Features heat treated, polished carbon steel needles and a knurled aluminum handle for a secure grip
Cons
  • Reliability

Like duct tape and a hammer, another MUST-HAVE tool

I've had a tool like this since I did aerospace composites and encapsulation with thermoset resin in the 80's. I've used it for everything; Notches, counting the smallest details, marking, the smallest hand movements when soldering printed circuit boards - everything just worked. Since the cleats on mine were a bit worn when I discovered these, I knew I had to give it a try. I'm glad I did, it was spot on! The tips are hard, very thin and sharp. The length of the instrument is ideal for tasks…

Pros
  • 90Β° pick for removing springs, packing, washers, O-rings and removable gaskets
Cons
  • The list goes on.
