has some range

I put it down and we were in Ventura harbor talking to San Pedro. I couldn't believe a tiny radio like this could work so well.

Pros
  • looking forward to
Cons
  • boring packaging

NMEA 0183 directions as clear as mud

Four days trying to connect and get NMEA functions working. Directions are worse than useless, they're not doable, and you'll spend the rest of your life trying to figure them out. Trying to connect a Garmin device that only has two wires is no problem, think again.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Few little things

Pick me up?: Auto & Vehicle Electronics

installed this on his boat with a new 48 inch antenna. The scan function is not like the old radios where you press scan mode and when someone is talking it will stop on that channel. This one requires you to program the channels you want to scan by simply going to that station and holding down the scan button until it beeps, just like programming your car stereo. The company sent it quickly and free of charge, in fact it arrived earlier than expected. I gave 4 starts because for some reason…

Good choice best in marine electronics

I wasn't about to buy this unit because of the other reviews but the price made it worth a try and Revain have a great return policy if it doesn't work. I loosened the spring on the mic arm due to reports of a loose plastic mic mount. I feel a fix needs to be made and I didn't notice any flaws with the mic. I installed a radio and 42" antenna on my pontoon boat, launched it 26 miles away in the St. Johns River, requested a radio check and received a clear response on Channel 16. A few miles…

Pros
  • understandable for old ones too
Cons
  • Have doubts

Handle bracket Very poorly made

This is the second unit I have ordered and wanted to return. The first device had a spike and the little ring you hook onto the mount was broken. You can see they have a problem with their plastic mold as you can see it is not smooth and shows signs of weakness. I returned it and got another one and installed it and within 2 minutes the same thing broke. I've had the same device for 15 years with no problems so it shows they are very poorly made these days. Now I can't return it as it has…
