Now literally understood. I put batteries in it, after that it worked. I was concerned because there were no instructions in the kit but they are not needed. I even connected my soundbar to an old original Sony remote and it didn't need to be reprogrammed!

Works great with my Sony Google TV. I'm glad it was compatible and have been looking for a replacement remote for a long time. It was connected as soon as I put the batteries in. USB is not required. It only remains to figure out how the Netflix button opens the app directly. All in all a perfect remote control for my needs.
