Universal Porcelain Ceramic Rotary Socket Review

I bought this part because it was advertised as ceramic. However, it did not come with the two screws to attach the wires to the terminals, nor the nuts to attach the socket to the lampshade. I figured no problem, I'll use the nuts and bolts from the socket I removed. NO, the topics didn't match and what should have been a 5 minute project turned into a 60 minute project. I almost never write reviews, but this is such a position that I felt compelled to caution others.

I have replaced the socket in the lamp with this new socket/switch. The old rotary knob has become very stiff. This new switch is very easy to use. However, it doesn't care about the absence. If you turn off the handle and then lightly touch it, voila! The light is on. The switch part seems to be very poorly made. The rest of the device sounds. There's also no protective cover on the cable connectors, although the description doesn't say there was one. I wouldn't buy anything else.

So, a little background…. I have a reading lamp, a very old antique that belonged to my grandfather and it is one of two of his things that I was able to salvage from relatives as an adult when he died when I was very young. This lamp brought me a lot of joy because I remember sitting on my grandfather's lap in his armchair UNDER THE SAME LAMP reading Sunday comics. Unfortunately, said lamp broke about 8 years ago.
