Description of Uniweld MTF ๐ฅ 5 Captain's Hook Flame
Five flames with 100% wrap around heat for easy brazing of copper tubing. Capable of brazing up to 1" copper tubing. Hook tip made of tough, durable stainless steel to protect against bending; mixer and nut are made from brass. Proudly made in the USA and 100% flame tested. Fits Uniweld's welding handles Part# 71 or Part# WH550.
Works MUCH better than a 3/4 and 7/8 tube 3-flame nozzle. Works well for a 3/8 pipe if you're working really fast. I had to replace the first one as two of the flames were out of sync with the other three. The replacement product worked great, as did my 3-flame hook of the same type. You'll wonder how you ever lived without them, especially how easily and quickly they allow existing connections to be disassembled or rotated, which heats up the rest of the assembly less.
So, as you can see, I have a cheap harbor tour. So of course it doesn't work. But no problem, I went to the cargo port and bought a spare #2 lug, cut it open, then put a 10-32 tap into the copper connector. Then he carefully unscrewed the chrome hook from the brass base. And screwed it into a new tip #2 I just threaded and it works great. I can take a 3/4 copper pipe and dye it cherry red in 20 seconds which is perfect for HVAC work. I really love this tool except for one thing. Needs an adapter for my flashlight grip. The adapter is annoying and takes away the joy of ownership. As stated in the review of this adapter, I cannot put it on and off the torch handle or the adapter o-ring would fall out and be lost. Nothing to do, it will be lost even before you separate the two parts. As for the hook, I tried it for the second time today. The first time I did what I was told in the welding shop. They said to put hydroxyacetate.
