Review on Uniweld MTF πŸ”₯ 5 Captain's Hook Flame by Johnny Snyder

Love-hate relationship with Uniweld

I really love this tool except for one thing. Needs an adapter for my flashlight grip. The adapter is annoying and takes away the joy of ownership. As stated in the review of this adapter, I cannot put it on and off the torch handle or the adapter o-ring would fall out and be lost. Nothing to do, it will be lost even before you separate the two parts. As for the hook, I tried it for the second time today. The first time I did what I was told in the welding shop. They said to put hydroxyacetate. Press up to 1psi at a time, maybe 2. I've done this and it didn't work. So I tried again with normal pressure on the torch tip (5 and 10). I can only say wow. I did test soldering in a vise with 15% silver solder on lines of various sizes (from 3/8 to 5/8) and the silver flowed so well I couldn't believe it. I wanted this tool to help keep the heat at the solder joint and NEVER heat up anywhere else like combustible walls, aluminum coils, and other things you don't want to mess up. I haven't used this in the field but I expect it to be good based on my dyno testing. Why Uniweld needed an adapter is unknown. It would be better if it wasn't needed.
