Type of review

The equipment is built with excellent fits, finishes and assemblies. The interior is painted with an excellent matte black paint that is neither visually nor IR reflective. The optics are of good quality even for visual use with small magnifications between 15X (26mm eyepiece) to 42X (9.7mm eyepiece). At 42X, moderate chromatic aberration is observed, but it is normal for any short-focal achromatic doublet. Although it is a guidescope it can also be used as a small refractor for casual use at…

Pros
  • Great item and seller!
Cons
  • Lots of CA gives brighter stars rings.

Quality Guide Scope

Decided to give the 70MM a chance as the Orion ct80 I has was built like a toy. This is much more substantial and built like a tank compared to the CT80. Optics are aligned as confirmed with a Cheshire and the Lens was in the correct orientation. I am satisfied. Could it be better? For this price i doubt it.

Pros
  • The sturdy metal housing made of black anodized aluminum. Looking out not only solid, but is also very robust. A milled and knurled ring allows easy and precise fine focus adjustments. It comes with matching pipe clamps and a Synta-style mounting plate to make assembly and installation as easy as possible.
Cons
  • Limited compatibility with certain types of telescopes and cameras

Find the best copy on my review.

This guide scope is made by 100 different companies. It probably one manufacturer with a different name written on it.Just buy the cheapest one, they’re all the same.

Pros
  • SKU_AM_GS50
Cons
  • May not be easy to use for beginners or those unfamiliar with astrophotography

Great Finder with Two If's

The 50mm Astromania finder features great optics and the potential ability to use the finder as a telephoto lens and use the finder in a straight through mode, 45 degree prism mode, or 90 degree prism mode. You can loosen a set screw to adjust the draw tube that holds the eyepiece or prism diagonal. You get a wide range of focus options, but it will not work for all prism/eyepiece combinations. Also, because of the sliding draw tube, you don't have an internal baffle. When sighting on an object

Pros
  • Accessories
Cons
  • Difficult to use in environments with high levels of light pollution or atmospheric interference

Could not achieve focus very well with my guide camera. Could be just me but keeping 5 stars because it is a very sturdy product.

Pros
  • With a 50mm aperture, this Astromania's Deluxe Finder and Guidescope kit offers an upgraded level of visibility, allowing astrophotographers to capture even fainter celestial objects that would have been previously impossible to capture
Cons
  • Guidescope and finder may not align with the main telescope as accurately as desired
