Believe it or not, this product was the best product I have ever tried. However, it still wasn't a great product. I used it 3-4 times before it started breaking. I'm trying to find a slicer that will cut vegetables evenly without damaging the product. I'll look but haven't found a good one yet.

This is a great tomato slicer. However, the knife cannot go all the way through the tomato because the lamellae are not open to the bottom of the tomato slices. Then I have to remove the sliced tomato and finish slicing the tomato to the base. The same goes for lemons and other vegetables. Open the slats like loop holders but keep the same style of tomato holder.

This is a metal rail that does the job well. Tomato slices can be a bit thin. I'm no cook, but my tomatoes tend to fall apart afterwards. It is better suited to lemons or fruits with a firmer skin. I cut tomatoes faster with a sharp knife, but I don't cut lemons as parallel. I have limited use of this item, maybe even less for a talented, knife-wielding chef. This is for the casual cook.

Works great especially if you want your tomatoes or lemons or whatever you are slicing to be the same thickness this is the perfect product. I bought this for my girlfriend who started her own grocery store at the farmers market and she loves it, it works great. I only give the best tomato slicer four stars because the best tomato slicers are the ones where you just slide a tomato through and you're done lol but they cost A LOT more than that.

I bought this because I grow tomatoes indoors. I don't know how to cut tomatoes either. I suggest you use this with a long, thin, serrated knife. I wouldn't use this with something like a chef's knife or a santoku because you can dull the blade. Combined with the right thin knife, this thing will slice tomatoes of any size in no time! I like it! This gadget is absolutely awesome. I was initially a bit skeptical about the depth of each disc in line with the grooves (they are not visible in the close-up photo of the product). However, the design flexes to hang fruit or veg well above where each groove ends, resulting in perfectly sharp and thorough cuts!
