dealership wanted $900.00 to program, luckily my husband is a mechanic and has various scanners and was able to program the car key.

The key will work exactly like the original key provided you can find a locksmith willing to program it. reprogrammed to make the copy work properly. MB dealers do not want to work with retrofit keys.

This replacement was the same as the key it replaces. The original key had a button ripped off and I removed the old one and replaced it with the one in the spare key. It worked perfectly from the first time and had no problems. We were told the key could be replaced at the dealership for $200.

So at around $13 this was a good buy compared to what the dealer was willing to charge. The challenge was finding a locksmith who had the equipment and knowledge to cut and program the key. I found one and it did just that for a total of $40. So my grand total was about $53 including the cost of the key. I can't remember the exact total cost the dealer quoted, but it was well over $200 when all was said and done.
