Essential on pre 1980 Fords

I went back to the factory recommended Type F for my C6 transmission (which is also the steering fluid spec). I'm good for another decade.

Pros
  • Handy
Cons
  • Modern

Good brand, no idea how good the product is in real life.

At first I thought this oil would eliminate noise in my transmission but it doesn't. I know it won't fix anything but I was hoping ;) However, my first gear is now much easier to control and the reverse gear noise is better. There is no way to verify this for sure, we all just trust the manufacturer. There is a guy on YT that compares oils and it looks like Revain make oils of equal if not better quality at lower prices.

Pros
  • Helps improve cold weather performance
Cons
  • Contact Seller

Just what I needed

I looked for Type F fluid at local auto parts stores as I needed to change the fluid in my 1965 Mustang. Out of my 3 local shops I only found 3 liters in one of the shops. Most people looked confused when I asked about the Type F, even though I hadn't seen it myself. I looked here and found 6 liters for about the same price as parts stores. I've never had a problem with Valvoline, so I expect this product will be with me for many years to come. Delivery on one day is also not possible.

Pros
  • Longer seal life due to better seal compatibility and improved deposit control
Cons
  • Almost never

When Valvoline quality is required

I built/installed a 5.0 motor for my Mustang that puts out over 500 RWPS. A new power steering pump was installed and I needed a good quality ATF fluid. I visited four different company stores and only found "their brand of ATF fluid". Would their products have worked - probably yes, but I have over $15k in this build so I turned to AMAZON for what I believe to be quality liquid. I used Valvoline in my old pump so it was easy.
