LightningBug Torch Lighter/Welding Torch Striker | Exclusively for Welding Torches | Self-powered, No Need for Flints, Batteries, or Charging Review

This is an impressive looking well built instrument. It creates an arc similar to a spark plug. However, I didn't find anything that could catch fire! The main purpose I bought this for was to light a propane lamp - no luck. I've also tried lighting a butane lighter with it, but to no avail. I think the spark is not significant enough. Am I missing something obvious? To top it off, I can't return it. So, I have a $14 topic of conversation.

Pain in my hand makes this type of igniter easier to use than the old reliable flint type. I would 100% love it except my first only lasted a year and a half with partial use. ADVANTAGES: very easy to "ignite" a spark. CONS: Reliability. CONCLUSION RECOMMENDATIONS: I recommend this igniter as it requires less pressure on my thumb. Use as my flint detonator. However, I still have a flint on hand in case it fails like the first one.

Bought this to complement my flashlights, I use a variety of acetylene and propane gas lights in my home business. I was initially a little disappointed to find that a standard propane sanitary torch (like the Bernzomatic or TurboTorch) would not ignite reliably. I then tried it with my acetylene torches (Victor Performer, Firepower 250, Detroit DHC2000 and an old Dockson cutter) and it lit the flame every time. I'm so impressed I strapped it to my burner wagon, now it's my custom acetylene…
