The zero reference doesn't seem to match anything that can say

Being new to homework I bought an 8in table who also has 3 T keys. The table is solid and looks well built, runs smoothly and fits my mill well. I haven't put it in the mill yet though - curious why the zero reference position seems to align with nothing other than the T-slot. "Zero" is 5-7 degrees from the vertical mounting surface, and the zero reference point is not adjustable that far. harder than it has to be.
