It takes a bit of effort to install and remove these filters, no matter the brand. Now that shouldn't happen that often at K&N. And when they get dirty, take them out, clean them, and put them back in. The filter freshener smells nice and K&N holds back dirt and particles much better than normal paper filters. If you plan on running your car for more than 24 months, these filters (in terms of cost) are not a problem.

Straight fitted KN cabin air filter. My car has just over 20,000 km on it. I did some repairs and decided to check the cabin filter. I was a little surprised how dirty it was. Big supporter of K&N products. Have them in all our vehicles. This caused an annoying problem in our 2017 Sierra 1500. After installing the cabin filter in the AC, heater and defroster system, there was a humming noise that wasn't there before the filter was installed. We can't get rid of it - not even after two extra disassemblies to blow out, vacuum or otherwise clean the filter housing. I almost wish we had never done it.

You either like K&n or you don't, if you like long-lasting filters that don't have to be changed often, you've come to the right place. To be honest I don't spend money on cleaning kits for their cabin filters or engine air filters. When one of these reaches the end of its lifespan it usually lasts so long and the price is so cheap for its lifespan that I just throw the filter away and buy another, especially given the high price of the cleaning kit.

So when I installed the cabin air filter on my 2014 Silverado I did everything right. When I drove with the A/C on, it made a loud fan noise. It was like taking off a jet engine. For some reason this noise is kept to a minimum. Then maybe a leaf or something fell into the fan when I put the new one in, but one day there was a loud crackling sound like something (most likely lead) being chewed. I installed this on my 2019 Suburban. Installation was easy and this filter fitted well and appears to be of very good construction. My only issue was that when removing the old filter, a leaf from the old one fell onto the fan assembly. When I turned on the fan, there was a very loud roar. Yes, an incredibly loud noise due to a small leaf. Using a small camera, I saw the leaf and realized that was all that had fallen.
