I use this card to capture the VGA output from my DDR Extreme machine running at 480p60 and to capture 1080p60 from my laptop - this device works great and has excellent image quality with no noticeable compression. I have not tested audio recording.

The description states that the device works with any software, including OBS. In fact, this only works with proprietary software downloaded from startech.com, which only allows you to save the stream to a file.

I had a unique situation. I needed a fast, real-time device that could take a VGA signal and feed it to a computer. It had to be displayed in real-time at high FPS (frames per second). Contacted tech support via email with my requirements and they recommended this device. After a simple installation I had another question which I emailed and was answered within a few hours. Tech support was very knowledgeable about their products and replies faster than expected.

So I wanted to record some of my DOS VGA programming projects on real hardware. I first hooked this thing up to my AST 486sx and it worked fine in text mode, but as soon as the resolution was changed from 320x200 to game there were horrible vertical lines running up and down the frame. (It was the onboard AST graphics.) So I hooked it up to my custom Pentium 133 with an s3 Trio64+ graphics card, and the thing worked great in every game I played; Alien Carnage, Doom, Keen Dreams, Captain Comic…
