Suspected compatibility issues

After two five star reviews I bought this card but soon found that I couldn't get it to work no matter what troubleshooting methods I use. I keep getting the "Code 10" error in Windows 10 Device Manager. According to VisionTek, this installation should be easy as it does not require a power supply or installation drivers. Windows 10 drivers should work on the AMD4 chipset. You don't! No amount of troubleshooting helped get this thing working, and VisionTek support didn't help either. Obviouslyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • USB 2.0/1.1 backwards compatibility allows VisionTek's internal 4x USB 3.0 x1 PCIe card to work with legacy USB devices.
Cons
  • Nothing here

I ignored the negative reviews. I regretted it.

Unfortunately, I suffered the same fate as other reviewers who said this card worked fine for about a week and then just died. Too bad because for the short time it worked it was great. Luckily he died in the return window. Very disappointing! Can't they figure out how to control the quality of these things? Do you realize how much energy (shipping/returns) and time is wasted when a product just dies like that? That's just funny.

Pros
  • Fully powered by PCIe bus, no Molex or SATA power cable required.
Cons
  • Only available in black

Works great on my HP G7 Proliant Running Server 2016

Works great on my Hp G7 Proliant server running Server 2016. The drivers have been integrated and I can get around 60MB/s from my external HP drives.

Pros
  • Power USB devices or charge without a power adapter, each port supplies 900mA.
Cons
  • Clarity

This card was a simple installation. It fits nicely in a PCI-e 3.0 slot and doesn't need to be plugged into a power source, making the build more appealing. The card uses generic drivers, so no special software is required. I have Windows 10 (64 bit) and an MSI motherboard. As already mentioned, the installation is a simple connection. highlighted.

Pros
  • Hot swappability means you can add and remove devices without rebooting.
Cons
  • There are nuances

Does exactly what it's supposed to do

Excellent card installed in a Dell PowerEdge T420 server running Windows Server 2016. Worked perfectly, drivers installed automatically when I signed up and I'm already up and running with USB 3.0 hard drives attached and with full/expected performance. No configuration, just plug and play.

Pros
  • Adds four SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, each with transfer rates up to 5 Gb/s (600 MB/s), up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0.
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
