The original wheels are all plastic and Sears wanted $40 for a pair of originals. They snap into place and are MUCH more secure. Stainless steel inserts replace exactly where the originals broke. If only Kenmore/Whirlpool would make them like this! Don't worry about OEM versions failing again. You solve the problem.

Some of the previous reviews have mentioned that the wheels are a bit stiff and don't turn very well. The items I received were fine. The wheels move easily and appear to work with no problems. Considering that Whirlpool's OEM parts are almost eight times their price, I couldn't imagine being disappointed even if they fail after a few weeks.

These wheels actually stay in place and make it easy to move my lower rack! Wish Whirlpool had just created originals like this. No more searching for pegs or wheels that have come loose in the dishwasher or are rolling around in the kitchen. I have often ordered replacement wheels for my dishwasher. I can't even remember how many there were, but at least 3. I also had to order attachments for the top rack for the same reason. The plastic becomes brittle and breaks. 2 years ago parts of the top rack were made out of metal and have not been used since. Our KitchenAid model: KDTE204DSS1 INSTALLATION Very simple OEM-style snap-on design. They come with wheels pre-fitted to the brackets ready to use. Apply light pressure to loosen the old braces and snap the new ones into place. If you have adjustable lower rack teeth, make sure they are properly placed when you snap the new brackets into place. As with any part replacement, read the information first. If this looks like a fit, I highly recommend trying it out!
