Very good for those who want a flat pulley but have a steel cable. It's a heavy, durable steel designed for machining. It will rust, there's nothing you can do about that. Treat it appropriately and repaint it once or twice a year.

After reading all the pros and cons of the Hawse fairlead I decided to go with it, the cable is less likely to chafe than the rollers pinch. Although there are some who will disagree, from everything I've read the odds for each option are no more than 50/50, I recommend this option as it better suits my HWMS hidden bumper.

. Used 3 months. Durable, long lasting. It has some dimples, but it is all gloss black and the dimples are not very noticeable. It also has 2 black plastic plugs that go over the heads of the bolts holding the rail to the bumper. I would recommend maybe gluing them in place if you want that look, they fell out of the fairlead after 2 months.

Heavy Duty! Yes it is a textured finish but it seems to have a heavy black finish which makes it very smooth and I don't see that as a problem, I like the texture of the key, no dot in the reel key; simple, functional, no way to tie a cord. Comes with plastic caps for the screws which I only used with silicone to hold them in place (don't fill them with silicone or crush them) but I should be able to remove them if I ever do any maintenance or require removal of the 8274. Pretty poor quality. I had to sand down large powder coating bubbles on the back panel to get them to sit flush. The finish is very rough, especially at the guide where the rope runs. Can't tell if it's plating or molded, but I wasn't impressed. Mounting holes are much larger than screws. You might as well buy a generic as the quality can't be much worse. I only use it because I still use steel wire and the reel doesn't fit my bumper. Too bad there are tons of decent aluminum for plastic cables

This thing is heavy. Almost as heavy as my old scooter. Very thick material. Some people have mentioned the comb inside. Mine didn't have that. It's a smooth radius almost the size of a roller clew. I got this for Tether. The inside of the hole is not as smooth as machined aluminum as this fairlead is molded and slightly knobbed due to the manufacturing process.
